The 1968 Chevrolet Camaro was virtually unchanged as it entered its second year of production, although a close inspection would reveal the addition of new front and rear side marker lights and vent less door glass. Chevrolet described cars equipped with the optional Rally Sport package as "a more glamorous version" of the Camaro. Chevrolet boasted that the 1968 Camaro SS was dedicated to the "fun crowd." The sales catalogue said it was "a husky performer and looks it." Big engines, upgraded suspension, and special equipment features made this model stand out.
With that in mind, the current owner took this car to the next level. With a fresh frame-off rotisserie restoration, keeping the same looks with the original all steel body and making this car a one of a kind car.
The body was painted to high standards with a DuPont base coat/clear coat red with black trim paint. The convertible top has been replaced as well as the rear boot. The interior has been outfitted with all new leather seating, door panels, and the dash cluster is all new with auto meter sportech gauges. The brakes and suspension have all been updated with added four-wheel disc brakes and Hotchkiss suspension to make the car handle and stop just as good as it performs. With a powerful 396 cubic inch engine mounted to a Muncie four-speed and 12 bolt rear end that will not be a problem.
Nothing has been overlooked in the restoration of this car and would be impossible to duplicate for what we are offering this fine car for here today. |
